LATEST: Pat Cummins OUT of second Ashes Test due to possible COVID-19 exposure
Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the second Ashes Test because he dined next to a COVID-positive person on Wednesday night.
Cricket Australia confirmed the news on Thursday morning.
Cummins was at an Adelaide restaurant when a patron at the next table was found to be positive.
Cummins has tested negative.
Under South Australian guidelines, he must now isolate for seven days.
Steve Smith will captain the side for the first time since the infamous sandpaper scandal.
Michael Neser replaces Cummins in the side and will make his Test debut.
