Fitzroy victim was running for his life when he was shot dead
The manhunt continues for two suspects following a fatal shooting in broad daylight in Fitzroy on Tuesday.
The victim was found in the street with life-threatening injuries just after 4.15pm.
The passer-by who found the man critically injured on Napier Street initially thought he had been hit by a car.
But it turned out to be something much more sinister.
Victoria Police Detective Superintendent Paul O’Hallaran told Neil Mitchell the man got out of a black Audi outside the Fitzroy public housing towers and ran for his life.
“He sat in the vehicle for a few minutes and then he got out of the vehicle and started to run,” he said.

The shooting is believed to be 17th in Melbourne this year.
Police do not believe the incident is linked to any of the previous shootings.
