Large study reveals surprising player in medicinal cannabis treatment

A private health insurer has left some people surprised after it came out they were supporting a study into the effect medicinal cannabis has on patient quality of life.

Health Insurance Fund chief executive officer, Justin James, says the fund wanted to ensure they were giving members the best choices available for alternative medicine.

“As an emerging therapy, medicinal cannabis was approved, once you have a script through an authorised GP, and we felt that it was important for our members to understand their choices, so we took an active interest in what that could be,” he told Neil Mitchell.
