‘Large orange fireball’ as e-waste blaze sends smoke across Melbourne’s north
Firefighters responding to a blaze at an e-waste facility in Melbourne’s north were confronted by a large orange fireball overnight.
Two workers at the factory off the Hume Highway at Somerton raised the alarm around 10pm.
The blaze was declared under control shortly before 5am, but crews will remain on scene for several hours today.
A community information message remains in place for Craigieburn, Epping, Roxburgh Park, Somerton, Wollert, due to the smoke.
