Lane filtering laws come into effect

Controversial new laws allowing motorcyclists to lane filter at speeds of less than 30 kilometres an hour come into effect today.

But lane splitting, at speeds greater than 30 kilometres an hour, will remain illegal.

New laws closing a loophole that previously allowed drivers involved in fatal crashes to refuse a blood test also come into effect today.
