Labor frontbencher launches personal attack on Peter Dutton amid leadership speculation

Labor frontbencher Tanya Plibersek has launched a personal attack on the man tipped to be the next leader of the Liberal Party.

She says Peter Dutton “looks a bit like” Harry Potter villain Voldemort.

Dutton is widely expected to fill the position of opposition leader after former prime minister Scott Morrison stepped aside as leader following the federal election defeat.

Speaking on Nine Radio, Plibersek was asked what she thought about the possibility of Dutton replacing him.

“Well, I think there will be a lot of children who have watched a lot of Harry Potter films who will be very frightened of what they see on TV at night, that’s for sure,” she told 4BC.

When asked what she meant by that, Plibersek made it crystal clear.

“I am saying he looks a bit like Voldemort,” she said.
