A key Victorian crossbencher who supported the controversial pandemic legislation says she agrees the community should be hearing from Professor Brett Sutton on masks.

Under the new laws, the Chief Health Officer will only make recommendations if requested by government.

Daniel Andrews hit back at calls from the Greens for a public campaign on masks, accusing the minor party of playing “rank politics” in a health crisis.

Reason Party leader Fiona Patten told Neil Mitchell it would be good to hear from the state’s Chief Health Officer.

“I supported the pandemic legislation because I thought it was a better model of regulation,” Fiona Patten said on 3AW Mornings.

“I think we should hear from Brett Sutton.”

Patten joined Bernie Finn for a new segment on 3AW Mornings, called The Odd Couple.
