Legendary broadcaster Bruce McAvaney has made a big claim about the atmosphere of women’s sporting events compared to men’s.

It comes after the Matildas won their round of 16 match against Denmark in the Women’s World Cup in front of over 75,000 fans in Sydney last night.

“There’s something about being at these matches that is different to going to big matches where males are dominating,” McAvaney told Neil Mitchell.

McAvaney labelled last nights atmosphere as “just infectious” and likened it to the 2003 Rugby World Cup final between Australia and England, which was played at the same stadium in Sydney.
