Jon Anderson breaks the sad news of former cricketer Keith Stackpole’s death

One of the state’s greatest cricketers, Keith Stackpole, has died aged 84 from a suspected heart attack.
Journalist Jon Anderson broke the sad news on 3AW Breakfast, after speaking to Stackpole’s son Peter last night.
The batsman played 43 tests for Australia between 1966 and 1974, including the 1972 Ashes tour, where he topped the run scorers list opening the batting.

Anderson was Stackpole’s ghost writer, and told Mark Allen and Jimmy Bartel he was the godfather of Victorian cricket.
“To his wife Pat and children Peter, Tony and Angela, sincere condolences,” Anderson said.
