John Worsfold’s assessment of Essendon’s 2018 season
John Worsfold isn’t satisfied with his side’s turnaround in 2018.
The Bombers recovered from a slow start to win 10 of their final 14 matches, losing only to top four contenders Richmond (twice), Collingwood, and Hawthorn.
But Worsfold told 3AW Football that means the club isn’t where it wants to be yet.
“They’re three good teams we weren’t capable of beating,” Worsfold said after Essendon’s final game for the season.
“If you want to be a top four or top eight team, you’ve got to beat those teams, or at least win one or two of (those games).
“We’re still a little bit short of where we’d like to be.
Worsfold said the start of the year was disappointing, but he never lost faith in the group.
“I always believed that, as the season went on, we were going to build a better understanding of what we were going to stand for and understanding of each other,” he said.
