John Pesutto takes state government to task over North-East Link

Opposition leader, John Pesutto has taken the Allan’s government to task for the cost blow out of the North-East Link saying the state government treats blow outs as a rounding error.

He says the blow out will fall on the shoulders of Victorians with the states debt to rise.

“Do you know interest on our debt will go up to $24 million a day … that you and I have generated and paid will simply go down the drain just on on interest alone,” he told Heidi Murphy.

He also says the state government had options in ensuring there was no blow out.

“Manage it well by allowing proper scrutiny and preparation … if you rescope a project because you haven’t done your homework at the start, it costs a whole lot more to do it on the run,” he said.
