John Farnham’s family shares more details on his cancer surgery
Popular Australian singer John Farnham is recovering in hospital after successfully undergoing a mammoth surgery, lasting almost 12 hours, to remove a cancerous tumour.
After the Australian music legend underwent surgery yesterday to treat his cancer, his management released a brief statement which said “John’s surgery began at 8am this morning and was successfully completed at 7.30pm”.
He has now been transferred to the ICU and is in a stable condition.
In a statement this morning, John Farnham’s wife Jill revealed the cancerous growth that sent the music legend into a marathon surgery was inside his mouth.
“It has been successfully removed,” she said.
“There is still a long road of recovery and healing ahead of us, but we know John is up for that task.”
Gaynor Wheatley is a close friend of the Farnham’s and thanked the public for their outpouring of support.
“He would be just so chuffed with the support that his family has received and the well-wishes that have come his way,” she said.
“He would be genuinely surprised, I know, and very grateful.”

Three of Farnham’s songs have jumped into the top 30 on the charts since the news emerged he was unwell.
Well wishes have been flowing for the much-loved 73-year-old.
Paul Stanley from KISS, in Australia on their farewell tour, tweeted “John you ARE the voice- sending you our prayers, energy and light for a full recovery”.
