Jill Hennessy holds back tears as she reveals 11 baby deaths could have been avoided
The Andrews Government says it will doing everything it can to ensure there’s not a repeat of the avoidable deaths of babies at Djerriwarrh Health at Bacchus Marsh.
A review of all stillbirths and newborn deaths, dating back to 2001, found 11 were potentially avoidable.
An earlier investigation found seven avoidable cases between 2013 and 2014.
The government has already sacked the hospital board, increased staff oversight and training, and boosted funding.
Health Minister Jill Hennessy said action had been taken.
‘We have implemented a number of measures to make sure this hospital is as safe as it can be,’ she said.
