‘James Bond is an alcoholic, probably should be dead’: Science
Researchers have confirmed James Bond was an alcoholic who drank so much in single sessions that he should be dead.
The Canadian scientists analysed the fictional character’s drinking habits across 24 of the 007 films.
They deduced Bond was not only dodging death by fighting evil, but he was also flirting with fate by downing too many drinks.
“Some binge-drinking put him in the fatal range,” Professor Nick Wilson, from the Department of Public Health at the University of Otago, told Ross and John this morning.
“When he drank six (Vespers) in succession, that was when his blood-alcohol would get up to about 24 units, which is well within the fatal range for a lot of people.”
- VESPER INGREDIENTS: Gin, vodka, and Kina Lillet.
And even if the drinking didn’t kill him, the scientists say it’s remarkable one of Bond’s lovers didn’t.
“He has a lot sexual partners and about 15 per cent of them try to kill or catch him,” Professor Wilson said.
“So he really needs to keep his wits about him, so even drinking before sex is dangerous for Bond.”
