James Aish requests trade to Collingwood

Brisbane Lions director Leigh Matthews has delivered a blunt message to want-away midfielder James Aish ? you will not be traded.

The club’s greatest ever coach said on Sports Today there was ‘no point’ in the Lions trading Aish, despite his request for move to Collingwood on Thursday.

Matthews said it was nothing personal, but the club had to take a stand.

‘He definitely won’t be traded,’ Matthews said on 3AW.

‘It’s nothing to do with James – it’s just the principle.

?’He’s a terrific young kid.

‘He’s a future captain.

‘He’s a really strong young kid.

‘This isn’t about him personally.’

Aish is out of contract, meaning he can enter the pre-season draft, but Carlton would likely snap him up with the first pick.

‘That will be a decision James has to make,’ Matthews said.
