Jaeger O’Meara requests trade
It’s official – Jaeger O’Meara has requested a trade.
The gun Sun has not played since 31 August 2014 due to injury, and speculation over his future has followed the club all season.
AFL great Leigh Matthews told Sports Today the Suns’ poor form will have been a factor in the decision.
‘They want to go to clubs that are in premiership contention,’ Lethal said.
‘Which is outstanding for the clubs in contention. They can just keep regenerating.’
But he said any club who wants him would be taking a gamble that he’s over his injury troubles.

The Suns are understandably furious that the player they invested heavily in wants out.
‘The club traded two first round selections to the GWS Giants to secure Jaeger as a 17-year-old, (and) spent 12 months developing him prior to him being eligible to make his AFL debut,’ Suns Chairman Tony Cochrane said in a statement.
‘The club has spent the last two seasons investing time and resources into rehabilitating his knee following multiple surgeries with the club’s utmost support.’
Cochrane stressed that O’Meara is not a free agent, and any club that wants him must ‘provide us compensation we are prepared to accept’.
O’Meara, the 2013 Rising Star winner, has played 44 games for Gold Coast.
