Jacqui Felgate’s passionate editorial as Good Friday Appeal child has NDIS funding cut in half
Jacqui Felgate has delivered a passionate editorial directed at politicians after a child from the Good Friday Appeal which Felgate met back in 2021 had his NDIS funding cut in half.
His name is Malu, who has had half his brain detached to survive life threatening seizures, but after turning five recently, he had his NDIS funding reassessed, and he’s not the only child affected by these funding cuts.
“For all of the politicians who went, when it comes to the photo op, and they can’t wait to stand outside the hospital and next to these sick kids, where are you now?” Felgate said.

“He’s a brilliant, busy little boy with a bright future ahead, and he is a miracle,” Felgate said about Malu.
GP and Director of the Kensington Hill Medical Centre, Dr Elise Davey, knows Malu and his family and shed light on the difficulties he’s faced in the early part of his life.
“I think it’s really important to note how severely Malu has been affected,” Dr Davey said.
