Jacqui Felgate is reporting Victoria Police were forced to divert resources away from dealing with youth crime in the week thousands of anti-war protests caused mayhem on the streets of Melbourne.

The 3AW Drive host believes significant amount of police were brought into the city to help deal with protests, stretching resources in the suburbs.

“I’ve been told a number of crimes happened in that week involving aggravated burglaries and car thefts,” she said on 3AW.

“So police are dealing with that rabble and protest instead of protecting innocents Melburnians in their home.”

Acting Assistant Commissioner Therese Fitzgerald later confirmed to Jacqui Felgate that police were forced to divert resources to help deal with the three-day protest.
