Jacqui Felgate has questioned Premier Jacinta Allan’s decision to bring American pop star JoJo Siwa out to Melbourne amid the cost of living crisis in Victoria.

The 3AW Drive host laid out the facts on the state’s “generational” level of debt, and has questioned how much the move is going to cost the taxpayer.

“When we spend money in this state, we should be watching every single penny,” she said.

“If we want to pay artists, lets get some local ones!” she said.

“Why are we giving money to a multi-millionaire American woman, who to be honest, a large percentage of Melbourne would never have heard of?”

Shadow Attorney-General, Michael O’Brien, said he was “surprised” by the move and claimed even young people have been “roasting” Jacinta Allan on her Instagram post about the 21-year-old American’s upcoming visit.

“The Premier has just not read the room here,” Mr O’Brien told Jacqui Felgate.
