‘It’s there for the taking’: Essendon leader not interested in rebuild talk

Jye Caldwell is optimistic that Essendon can contend in future seasons after the Bombers overcame the Power in the last quarter to grab their first win of the season.

Speaking post-game, Caldwell affirmed his belief in the club and himself to be a leader and take Essendon into a new era.

“It’s actually exciting, there’s been a lot of talk about it recently,” Caldwell told 3AW Football.

“I’m coming into my prime and I want to grab it with both hands. I feel like it’s such a great opportunity to lead such a big club.

“It’s there for the taking. I believe we’ve got a good list, and this rebuild that they’re talking about it’s exciting but I feel like we’ve got a good enough list to contend in the years to come as well.”
