‘It’s just a joke’ | Mick Warner slams the crackdown ’embarrassing’ the game

Mick Warner has blasted the “fiasco” that is the encroachment rule.

The Herald Sun journo said the crackdown on players entering the protected area is a “joke” and an “embarrassment” for the game.

“There’s been 308 50m penalties this year, 223 this time last year,” Mick told 3AW Football.

“That’s 15.4km in 50m penalties.

“There’s no consistency, that’s probably the biggest concern.

“It’s going to cost teams a final.”
