“It’s a very serious problem”: Diabetes on the rise in Australia
Hospitals in Australia are facing an increase in diabetes-related complications in patients, with Diabetes Australia claiming three million Australians will be living with the disease by 2050.
General practitioner with a special interest in diabetes, Dr Gary Deed, is worried about the increase of the disease in Australia.
“It’s one of the leading epidemics of health that’s affecting Australia and around the world, it’s a very serious problem,” Dr Deed told Ross and Russel.
“The real issue is getting in young and getting our children healthier and focusing on good healthy lifestyles.”
