Monash City Candidate Marcus Fernandez has fallen short by 23 votes in the local council election, however he has asked for a recount of the votes.

Fernandez is asking for a recount as he thinks the Australian Post van which was stolen in October contained more votes for him.  He joined 3AW Drive and says he “doesn’t understand how we can ensure the votes weren’t in there.”

“I worked longer and harder then anyone else but unfortunately despite winning the primary vote, I lost on preferences,” Fernandez said on 3AW Drive.

“It’s a shame that more people voted for me in the Jells Ward than anyone else and I don’t get to represent them on this occassion.”
