Israel-Hamas war: The ‘paramount issue’ right now

A former Israeli Ambassador to Australia says the people taken hostage by Hamas are the “paramount issue” in Israel.

Mark Sofer, who served as Israeli Ambassador to Australia from 2017 to 2020, says there are “well over 100” hostages including babies and elderly people.

“We have to find a way to balance the freeing of the hostages on the one hand and the handling of the Hamas on the other after the carnage,” he told Ross and Russel.
