All adults who haven’t had COVID-19 or a vaccination in the past six months will be eligible to get a fifth jab from February 20.

The fifth dose was previously only available for adults who were severely immunocompromised.

Sydney University Institute of Infectious Diseases Professor Robert Booy told Neil Mitchell “anyone who is vulnerable” would be wise to get the fifth jab.

“That means anyone with multiple medical problems, 65+, indigenous, disabled,” he said.

Professor Booy anticipates the COVID-19 vaccine will become an annual booster.
