School principals are calling for the federal laws to be overhauled to allow foreign teachers to remain on the job, instead of being forced to pick fruit and vegetables.
Fully trained teachers, on working holiday visas are being forced to leave classrooms and fulfil the mandated 88 days of agricultural labour in order to qualify for a second year in Australia.
But former Immigration Department deputy secretary, Abul Rizvi says there’s a quick fix.
