Residents from Los Angeles have detailed what it’s currently like in the city and surrounding suburbs as wildfires continue to rage on.

At least 130,000 residents are under evacuation orders, with resident Orly Israel telling 3AW Breakfast he’s “still overwhelmed” after fighting the fire head on.

“I suspect that I’ll break down sometime later, right now I’m just focused on doing all those steps that you have to do when you’re trying to recover from something like this,” Altadena resident Ibarionex Perello, whose house was destroyed in the fires.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan then weighed in on the situation, stating it’s “horrible” what is happening in Los Angeles.

Heffernan also said it’s a stark reminder back home in Victoria to always have a bushfire evacuation plan.

“Just because you live in metropolitan Melbourne, doesn’t make you immune to bushfire season,” he said on 3AW Afternoons.
