Ian Chappell believes Usman Khawaja is better prepared for Test cricket
Usman Khawaja has made good on his promise to make the most of his latest opportunity at Test level.
Khawaja hit 174 – his first Test ton – to lead Australia to a first innings total of 4-556 in the First Test against New Zealand.
Khawaja was dropped from the Test team in August 2013, but Aussie legend Ian Chappell said he had vowed to return better prepared.
‘He does look a lot more serene and comfortable at the crease,’ Chappell said during his innings.
Khawaja is known for his casual batting style, which has also prompted concerns over his suitability at the top level.
But Damien Fleming said the same questions being asked of Khawaja were asked of elegant English batsman David Gower.
