‘I stand for the victims’: John Pesutto vows to change laws to prevent IVF treatment for prisoners
State opposition leader John Pesutto has vowed to change laws to prevent IVF treatment for prisoners, after a convicted murderer was granted release for the treatment this week.
Alicia Schiller murdered mother-of-three Tyrelle Evertsen-Mostert back in 2014, with the revelation of her IVF treatment being approved in recent days, causing uproar in the wider community and the murder victim’s family.
“I stand for the victims and the broader Victorian community who are horrified at the prospect of this,” Pesutto told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.

“Premier Jacinta Allan will favour the murderer in jail,” he said.
The opposition leader also addressed the state’s monster debt levels, cost blowouts on major projects, his view on a Victorian Indigenous treaty and also bail laws.
“I reckon young people probably try to outdo each other on how many times they can commit offences and get bail, and they probably laugh about it,” he said.
