A physician has called on people to take precautionary measures now to help reduce the risk of contracting a flesh-eating ulcer.

A record number of cases were reported in 2023, promoting a warning to be issued in Victoria.

“(The disease) is being transmitted now from mosquitos,” Austin Hospital Infectious Diseases Physician Professor Paul Johnson told Ross and Russ on 3AW Breakfast.
