How the pandemic changed workplace meeting schedules

Fewer people are starting their working week with a day full of meetings, according to new analysis of data from millions of Microsoft users.

Workers are starting later and wrapping up earlier on Fridays compared to a year ago.

Assistant professor of organisational behaviour at Bond University, Dr Libby Sander, says the shift away from meetings on Mondays and Fridays is partially due to those being the preferred days to work from home.

“We’re seeing now that Tuesday to Thursday people might be going into the office … so no one really wants to meet on a Monday morning,” she told Ross and Russel.

But Dr Sanders says we’re still having too many meetings.

“One of the issues is we’re having meetings about things we don’t even need to meet about,” she said.
