Federal Health Minister, Mark Butler, has shed light on the details behind the new $8.5 billion Medicare pledge by the Labor government, which was announced yesterday.

Tom Elliott questioned Butler on where the money will come from, with the health minister also explaining how the move will help “middle Australia”.

“It will reflect what we’ve done over the last two years, which is a responsible approach to budget management,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“Every single dollar of this is tied to bulk billing outcomes.”
