Australian investors should be braced for a “pretty ugly” stock market crash in the coming days as a result of Donald Trump’s wide-ranging tariffs.

Australian exports have been slapped with a 10 per cent tariff, causing ripple effects globally as a trade war looms.

Australian Finance Review economics editor John Kehoe told Ross and Russ investors should be prepared for the worst.

“A bare market (crash) is typically fallen 20 per cent,” he said on 3AW Breakfast.

“If we get into a scenario, which is quite likely, where the market falls 20 per cent from its peak, that’s pretty ugly.”
