How technology ‘outsourced’ handy human skills
A leading social commentator says technology has undoubtedly ‘outsourced’ handy human skills we once took for granted.
A column written by Bernard Salt at the the weekend captured Tom Elliott’s attention.
“There are skills we once had that I’m not sure we have any more,” Mr Salt told Tom on Wednesday.
He pointed at applications on mobile phones as a major reason.
“The capacity to memorise (phone) numbers has gone – we don’t need it anymore,” he said.
“Spelling has been outsourced, the same with arithmetic.
“Even navigation.”
