Ongoing severe staff shortages are forcing eateries to reduce their opening hours and offer limited menus.

Chief of hospitality industry jobs platform Barcats Australia, Jeffrey Williams, estimates the industry needs $200,000 more staff Australia-wide.

CEO of Restaurants & Catering Association, Belinda Clarke, says she doesn’t expect the shortages to end any time soon.

“Lots of your favourite restaurants are now having to close on certain days of the week,” she told Ross and Russel.

“We’re really having to work with businesses on how to keep the staff they’ve already got.”
