How Richmond became the first club to reach 90,000 members

Richmond has become the first AFL club to reach 90,000 members.

The Tigers’ CEO Brendon Gale told 3AW Football the club has put in a lot of work over the better part of a decade to reach the milestone.

“Certainly there’s the sugar hit that comes with a premiership,” Gale said on Saturday.

“But it’s something we really focused on 7-8 years ago.

“We have a large latent support base that, for various reasons, have become disengaged with the club.

“We gave them a strong sense of involvement and engagement and it started from there.”
