How Hawthorn played ‘trick’ on media ahead of win over Collingwood

Hawthorn young gun Connor MacDonald believes his side played a “trick” on the footy world with their team selection this week.

The Hawks continue to go from strength to strength, crushing Collingwood by 66 points in the wet at the MCG on Saturday.

But it was the initial selection of tagger Finn Maginness which MacDonald believed fooled the opposition, who would have widely tipped to have started the game on Nick Daicos.

“I don’t want to give too many secrets away,” MacDonald told 3AW Football post match.

“But naming Finn in the team got the media speaking…that (was) one of our tricks.”
