UK scientists say hand gestures could be the key to overcoming Zoom fatigue and having better video meetings.

Study author Paul Hills from University College London was using hand signals in surf lifesaving and while mentoring men in crisis, and wondered whether they’d help people engage better on Zoom.

“I just thought these hand signals work really well in real life — why don’t we bring the body language back to zoom calls by introducing some hand signals so people can see if people are listening and engaging?,” he told Ross and Russel.

“To my surprise, kind of, it worked straight away.

“I was able to help people have much better meetings straight away.”
