Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner Group was poised to launch a military coup against the Russian army at the weekend, but it was called off following an agreement brokered by Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko.

Foreign affairs analyst Dr David Wright Neville says the rebellion has significantly damaged Putin’s reputation as a “master string-puller”.

“I don’t think this bodes well for us or for world stability,” he told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
