How a plan to cultivate cannabis could reduce rates in a Melbourne council
A Melbourne council will consider cultivating medicinal cannabis to grow its bank balance.
Maribyrnong Mayor Michael Clarke will put forward the motion at a meeting tonight.
He says the venture could be used to ease pressure on households.
“This is not just a thought bubble. We’ve had a couple of staff looking at this in absolute detail,” Councillor Clarke told Ross and Russel.
“This is very, very significant funding that we’re looking at, or revenue we’re looking at generating.
“We are serious about capping the household rate and then ideally reducing the rate burden on the community.”
