Horror smash involving train and truck at Pirron Yallock, near Colac

The condition of the truck driver involved in a crash with a VLine train near Colac has improved overnight.

They are now listed as serious, but stable.

Eighteen train passengers and the train driver escaped with relatively minor injuries after the truck hit the train at a level crossing at Pirron Yallock just before 4pm on Wednesday.

Emergency crews said it was extremely lucky there weren’t more serious injuries.

The crash caused a huge mess, which was still being cleared on Thursday morning.
