Seven people have been killed and at least another 40 people injured in a string of terror attacks across London.

UK authorities have also confirmed three attackers were shot dead by police.

The attacks consisted of a van veering off the road and mowed down pedestrians on London Bridge, and moments later there were reports of stabbings at Borough Market.

The three Borough Market attackers were killed within eight minutes of the first call to police.

The suspects were wearing what looked like suicide vests, but police later confirmed they were hoaxes.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has confirmed two Australians were “directed affected” by the attack.

One Australian is in hospital.

“In the other case we are continuing to make inquiries,” Mr Turnbull said.

Their families have been contacted.

3AW spoke to NSW senator Sam Dastyari who was in London at the time.

He was dining near London Bridge at the time, and was locked upstairs in the restaurant for about 40 minutes in the aftermath, before a “very, very quick evacuation”.

“It’s horrific scenes here in London,” he says.
