‘Hitler had the right idea’: Victim tells of vicious racist tirade in Melbourne car park
The victim of an appalling racist verbal attack has told 3AW how a man shouted anti-Semitic slurs at her in a Melbourne car park.
Jacqueline was in a the Coles supermarket car park in Bentleigh on Tuesday when a man, out of nowhere, began shouting racist comments at her.
“The guy leaned out the window and called out me, ‘You ugly f***ing Jew’,” she told Tom Elliott.
“I couldn’t believe what he had said, I thought he misunderstood, but he repeated the same thing even more viciously and loudly.
“As I was about to walk off, he said, ‘Hitler had the right idea’.”

Jacqueline says she is Jewish but she has no idea how the man would have known as she, “wasn’t dressed in a particular way”.
She said he then stuck his middle finger up at her as he was driving off.
It’s believed the man was in the passenger seat of a dark-coloured 4WD, with a man in his 70s driving and a teenage boy in the backseat.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission, told Tom Elliott sadly, the incident doesn’t surprise him.
“It seems it’s becoming a fact of life in Australia,” Dr Abramovich said.
“The data we have, anti-Semitic comments have increased by 10 per cent in the past year.
“We had two similar incidents to Jacqueline’s in the past week alone.”
