Police received reports of a child at significant risk on Rosamond Road in Maidstone just after 7pm.
“How stiff do you have to be that when you leave your keys in the car — TO SAVE A CHILD —
someone in the vicinity would steal it?”
– Ross Stevenson
When police arrived, a man, 39, had already stopped to help the child off the road.
But as he was doing that, someone jumped in his car and took off — along with his house keys, wallet and laptop computer.
Police called for public help to find this men this morning.
Hours later, a 52-year-old West Melbourne man and a 41-year-old Maidstone man were arrested in West Melbourne in an allegedly stolen car.
But the good Samaritan’s Ford Ranger remains outstanding.
Both men are assisting police with their enquiries.
