Health department issues advice as gastro runs rampant through childcare
Gastro is running rampant through Victorian childcare centres.
So much so, it prompted the Department of Health to issue official advice on Wednesday.
There have been 56 outbreaks in childcare centres since the beginning of November.
There were 19 outbreaks during the same period last year.
Parents are being told to keep an eye out for symptoms of gastroenteritis, which include;
- Loss of appetite.
- Bloating.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
- Abdominal cramps.
- Abdominal pain.
- Diarrhoea.
- Bloody stools (poo) – in some cases.
- Pus in the stools – in some cases.
- Generally feeling unwell – including lethargy and body aches.
