Head of ESTA responds to release of damning report

The head of Victoria’s crisis-plagued Triple Zero service says ESTA holds “no shame” in a damning report identifying ‘continued and systematic underperformance’ within the organisation.

The review, conducted by former Victoria Police chief Graham Ashton, made 20 recommendations.

Five of those have already been implemented, starting with a rebrand to “Triple Zero Victoria”.

ESTA chief executive officer Stephen Leane, who has only recently taken on the role, said he was looking at the review positively.

“I think it gives us some building blocks for the organisation to work through and move ahead and make it more robust to deal with the issues, some of those you’ve outlined,” he said.
