‘He doesn’t get it’: The comments from Martin Foley that left Neil Mitchell ‘stunned’

Neil Mitchell has ripped into Victoria’s Health Minister, who he says “just doesn’t get” how extended lockdowns are affecting Victorians.

Speaking over the weekend, Health Minister Martin Foley was dismissive of the serious impacts lockdowns are having.

“What is at stake here is not just weddings and social events, it’s life and death decisions to keep our health system operating at a level that Victorians would want to achieve,” he said.

Neil Mitchell says he was “stunned” by the comments.

“He doesn’t get it! It’s not about weddings and parties and social events, this is ruining lives, Martin Foley. It’s costing lives, Martin Foley — have a look at the suicide figures,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Neil Mitchell says the comments “demeaned the suffering of every Victorian”.

“This is about life, survival, businesses going under, people dying. For God’s sake, if he doesn’t get it, I wonder if anybody in that government does.”
