‘Happiest sporting event I’ve ever been to’: Grand Prix boss full of praise for race
Australian Grand Prix CEO Andrew Westacott has described the weekend’s race as “the happiest sporting event” he’s ever been to.
Record crowds flocked to Albert Park to see Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc take out top spot on the podium, finishing ahead of Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez.
It’s been more than two years since the event was last held in Melbourne after the COVID-19 pandemic caused a last-minute cancellation.
“We were instilling the mojo back into Melbourne,” Mr Westacott told Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings.
“There was a lot of belief in everyone that this was a great way to do it.”
