GWS coach Leon Cameron steps aside

Leon Cameron has resigned.

The GWS coach is stepping down from the role he’s held since 2014.

He will coach the Giants against Carlton this weekend.

Mark McVeigh will then take over as caretaker.

3AW Football’s Matthew Lloyd said the early decision would give the Giants a “head start” on rival clubs when it comes to securing the best possible replacement, with Alastair Clarkson already being linked to the role.

“It gives them the opportunity to get the front of the queue,” he said.
