The federal health minister says he’ll be contacting the Victorian government to ask for clarification about COVID-19 spread on the Mornington Peninsula.

Greg Hunt addressed concerns about COVID-19 cases in the area, and vaccine shortages, with Neil Mitchell on Monday.

A doctor who oversees a Mornington Peninsula COVID-19 testing site says positive cases in the region are growing but the community isn’t being told about potential exposure.

Speaking on 3AW, Mr Hunt said he’d be chasing that claim up.

“I’ll be writing to them today to ask them to ensure there is full public reporting, so people are given all the details, are able to take all the precautions and are able to protect themselves,” he said.

But doctors in the area have also reported shortages of the Pfizer vaccine.

Mr Hunt said he’d also look into what was going wrong, because the supply was there.
